The main goal of the project is the adaptation of a dual system in Kazakhstan that improves the competencies of students according to the needs of employers, increase of the employability of graduates, and strengthens the cooperation with private sector. 

Specific goals: 

In order to achieve these aims, the project needs to realize the following concrete objectives:

-To propose changes to legislation/regulations to adapt dual Higher Education in Kazakhstan. 

-To enable students to acquire more relevant knowledge and skills by combining formal education with training acquired in the workplace. 

-To develop a model for dual Higher Education that supports different needs and interests of employers, higher education institutions (HEIs) and students in different industrial sectors and to provide recommendations to HEIs for implementation of dual Higher Education 

-To bridge programs between vocational colleges and university entry requirements

-To raise the motivation of students to study and interest of HEIs and companies to support and implement dual Higher Education and to decrease drop-out of students.

-To Create network and research center for dual education and vocational training.

The first results of the university`s participation in the «ERASMUS+» program


 This year Abai KazNPU entered the consortium of projects «Capacity Building in Higher Education» (CBHE) of the ERASMUS+ program. Within the framework of the ERASMUS+ CBHE program component, it is possible to finance the European Union projects aimed at achieving a long-term impact on universities and higher education systems of the partner countries.

 The Erasmus + program in Kazakhstan is coordinated by the National Erasmus+ Program Office (NEO), which provides information support and advice on participation in the program, assistance in finding partners, coordination of the activities of the National Team of Experts on Higher Education Reform, as well as monitoring Erasmus + projects.

At the end of January of 2021 at SKU named after M. Auezov, an online meeting of the Grand Holders of the Erasmus + projects was held. On behalf of the Abai KazNPU the coordinator, postdoctoral researcher B. Sapargaliyeva and the key person of the project, head of the commercialization department T. Igissinov took part in it.

During the online meeting, presentations, seminars, project advocates, networking events and the exchange of best practices took place over several days.

The representatives of the Agency Erasmus and the working groups of the partner universities of the KAZDUAL project "Implementation of the Dual System in Kazakhstan" exchanged questions about the progress and stages of the project. The details of the project`s implementation were clarified and useful information was obtained, as a result, mutual understanding was achieved between the negotiators.

 Following the online meeting of Grand Holders, a joint meeting of the working groups of two partner universities was held: SKU and KazNPU. The working groups assigned responsibilities and clarified the work plan in the short term.

Three days from 15 to 17 October, 2020 were dedicated to the # ERASMUSDAYS celebrations in Europe and beyond. These days, many countries offer a huge variety of events during the #ErasmusDays. As one of the participants of the Erasmus + program, Abai KazNPU and M. Auezov SKSU organized an international online webinar "Introduction meeting of the KAZDUAL project partners"

The organizers of the webinar and the main leading events are Bayan Sapargalieva, head of department, project coordinator from Abai KazNPU, Aigul Iskakova - Auezov SKU Vice-rector for strategic development and internationalization, project coordinator, Laura Khassenova - Auezov SKU Director of the Center for the Bologna Process and Academic Mobility, the contact person of the project held the first online meeting. According to the results of the 6th Competition for the component "Capacity Building in Higher Education" (CBHE) of the Erasmus + program, by the decision of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission, project 618835-EPP-1-2020-1-KZ-EPPKA2-CBHE was selected for funding -SP KAZDUAL "Implementation of the Dual System in Kazakhstan", within the framework of which the goal of introducing a dual system will be implemented to increase the competence of students in accordance with the needs of employers, increase the employment of graduates and cooperation with the private sector.

The online webinar was attended by 30 representatives of universities in Europe and Kazakhstan participating in the project, as well as guests, representatives of universities and organizations. During the webinar, all presentations of universities and colleges participating in the Consortium were listened to, the upcoming tasks for 2021 were outlined.
